Bruce Howard Cohen, M.D.

Bruce Howard Cohen, M.D., earned his undergraduate degree in 1978 from Washington University, in St. Louis. He received his medical degree in 1982 from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y. Following his pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he served as a fellow at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in N.Y., where he specialized in pediatric neurology. Dr. Cohen joined the Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Neurology in 1989. In 1999 he became chief of the Section of Pediatric Neurology, with joint appointments in the Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center, the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Pediatrics.

His specialty interests include adult and pediatric neuro-oncology, neurofibromatosis, neuro-metabolic diseases and pediatric neurology. He has served on a variety of committees for the Children’s Cancer Group, the Child Neurology Society, and also as chair of the Infant Brain Tumor Study Group. He is an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also is a fellow of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Pediatrics, and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology.

A frequent invited lecturer, Dr. Cohen has made numerous television and radio appearances, has received awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Cancer Society, the Peter Preuss Foundation, and other medical research organizations. He is a member of the Child Neurology Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, the Sigma Xi North American Scientific Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha fraternal organization. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for Annals of Neurology, Neurology, Medical and Pediatric Oncology, the Journal of Neuro-Oncology and Muscle and Nerve.

Dr. Cohen has been elected to both the Best Doctors in Ohio, and Best Doctors in America since 1994. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
